Walking

With miles of surfaced paths there are excellent walks for all ages and abilities. The ponds are well worth a visit in spring for their rich wildlife, birdsong and fauna.

A way marked trail (free leaflet from the Visitor Centre) takes you up Barstobrick Hill with stunning views of the Solway Firth and the surrounding countryside.

Wetland Trail, 1.5km (Easy)

Starting at the Visitor Centre enjoy a gentle stroll around the beautiful ponds and paths at Barstobrick and watch for abundant wildlife activity in and around the water.

The Wetlands come alive in Spring and Summer with an amazing variety of plants, mammals, birds, insects and amphibians. Display boards at the Visitor Centre tell you about the Wetlands and what you can expect to see around the ponds.

 

Barstobrick Farm Trail, total 9km (Moderate to strenuous)

The Farm Trail takes you through the beautiful countryside around Barstobrick, full of wildlife, wonderful scenery and species rich grassland.

The most strenuous part of this trail is the path up to the monument on Barstobrick Hill, but it's well worth a visit fro the fantastic panoramic views across the Solway Firth which strech as far as the Isle of Man and Cumbria.
Look aout for Red Kites too which can regularly be seen using the up draughts from the Hill.
Display boards at the Visitor Centre tell you about the history of the Iron Age settlement and Neilson's Monument on the Hill.

Cycling

Bring your bike - the paths and tracks snaking round the beautiful countryside can be cycled with the exception of the 'pond trail' and 'strenuous access trail'.
